Tim Booth is "Fresh as a Daisy"

I wouldn't say I've seen many bands in my young years, but enough to count when I say "James" from Manchester, England, are the best performers out there. Although I've been listening to them before I could even process their lyrics in my wee brain, and I'm not biased: James is where it's at.

Thanks to my oh-so-generous older sister (yeah, we're 16 years apart), I was one of the lucky thirty-something fans that was graced with James' smooth, creamy, buttery, indulgent vibratos of their sound check.

I've heard that Tim Booth can get pretty heavy on stage but I wasn't nearly prepared for what I saw. He moved his body like a worm on wet cement. Okay, maybe that isn't the best analogy... perhaps, "shook like jello on a plate" would be a better way to explain. There is a reason that man is so damn skinny. It's possible he burns well over 1,500 calories per concert. On another note, Tim is also very mesmerized by his band mates. Many-a-time he would close his eyes and listen to the violin, with very limited person space, if you know what I mean.

After sound check, we were waiting out by the tour bus wondering where the hell we're suppose to get our tickets. Tim Booth came out and our entourage wanted to get a picture with him. Before we could ask, a larger gentlemen who smelt of fish and chips interjected and wanted to thank Tim for his music. Tim sounded more than inclined to listen but interrupted the man stating "Sorry, I'd love to chat but six year old son is running around and I need to find out where he is," in his English accent. Spicy. Well, we'd figure to wait because, shit, I'd want to know where my kid were if we were well over 5 thousand miles from home in a state filled with morons. I mean, Mormons. Really, I'm not that callous of a person. So we left.

There isn't enough words to describe what a show Tim and his band put on. It was fabulous, and I can't even abbreviate that it was so brilliant. So I've done a little favorite and am posting some links that will be high in your favor.

Laid, live in Manchester.
